Akko De Pon! is another mahjong game full of cartoonish characters, but this time the characters are voiced by Japanese celebrities! The most famous of which is Akiko Wada (check out her wiki HERE). The game has several modes, including a story mode where you will meet several of the characters and learn a little about each as you play them in mahjong matches.
The mahjong matches are a little different in this game as you are able to play "super moves" that allow for major changes to matches. If however, the anime-like super moves are for you and you'd rather have a pure mahjong experience then you are able to play with out them.
The real draw to this mahjong ds game is the celebrity voices and the supermoves, two features you won't find in any other mahjong ds game.

Great blog! I had no idea there were so many Mahjong games available for the DS! I'm a fan of Mahjong (the Four Winds version, not the tile-matching version), and would love to play the game on my DS when my friends aren't able to play with me. Unfortunately, I don't speak Japanese so I won't be buying any of the games you listed. Do you know of any English versions of Mahjong for DS?
I'm also looking for an English version of the real Mahjong game for the DS
