Akko De Pon!

Akko De Pon! is another mahjong game full of cartoonish characters, but this time the characters are voiced by Japanese celebrities! The most famous of which is Akiko Wada (check out her wiki HERE). The game has several modes, including a story mode where you will meet several of the characters and learn a little about each as you play them in mahjong matches.

The mahjong matches are a little different in this game as you are able to play "super moves" that allow for major changes to matches. If however, the anime-like super moves are for you and you'd rather have a pure mahjong experience then you are able to play with out them.

The real draw to this mahjong ds game is the celebrity voices and the supermoves, two features you won't find in any other mahjong ds game.

Akagi DS

akagi dsAkagi DS is a mahjong game based on the anime series of the same name. The anime series centers around the character of Akagi who is a master mahjong player and must use his mahjong skills to get himself out of stick situations.

The game feature 4 different game modes: Story, Freeplay, Gallery and something called "system mode." I have been having a hard time figuring out just what makes this game special, my guess is not a whole lot, unless you are in love with the anime.

Gundam Mahjong Trailer

Hey guys, sorry, there seemed to be an error in the conversion so there is no audio for this trailer, but to be honest it was all in Japanese anyways so it probably wouldn't have been much use :P

Mahjong Quest Expeditions

Mahjong Quest Expeditions is really two games in one. First of all you have the classic single player mahjong that everyone and their grandma seems to have played on a personal computer at one point or another, where it is up to the gamer to remove all of the mahjong tiles from the board by matching pairs. The second game is really just an the first game but with innovative and bizarre tile mechanics, like dynamite tiles that blow up rock tiles, and balloon tiles that float away off the board when they are freed from surrounding tiles.

This game has received high marks from revies all over the internet, but strangely it lacks any sort of mulitplayer, so keep that in consideration if you are planning on picking this title up. Also, it is nice to have an English language Mahjong DS game every once and a while!

Simple DS Series Vol 1: Mahjong DS

Originally released June 30th 2005, the game proved so popular that a second run was produced and released just this Dec 2007. The very first game in the Simple DS line is all about Mahjong. Up to four players can partake in the table-top tile action with only one game cartridge. And don't forget that all Nintendo DS games are region free so if you import this title you'll have no problem playing it on your North American DS.

The game also features classic mahjong board game play in both competitive or a story mode. Players can even customize the rules and pick their own tables.

You may want to brush up on your Mahjong before importing this guy, because the menus are all in Japanese.
